I am building a go bar deck and have 3 4 inch baltic birch 24x24.
Go bar deck plans.
Stack and glue two of the pieces together and stack and glue the other four together the extra thickness is required to give the go bar deck base sufficient stiffness.
In guitar building this is key for tasks such as clamping the internal bracing in place more on that in future posts where it is difficult.
I split mine from a straight grained scrap hickory board.
Length is more critical when using wood than when using fiberglass and having a few different lengths for different operations is a good idea.
The go bar deck will seat on my workbench when i am using it.
It is 1 3 8 inch mahogany.
The holes for the corner rods go through both the the deck and the oak.
Go bars for go bar deck.
Go bar deck assembly from a sheet of 3 4 plywood cut six pieces each 2 feet x 2 feet.
No run out no grain figure and even so i broke a couple of them by bending them too far.
There are no critical dimensions involved in the construction of the go bar deck but if you want to use commercially available dished work boards 2 in diameter and commercially available go bars 2 long it is best to keep all dimensions at 2.
If you have a deck then you already have the beginnings of a perfect outdoor bar.
By bending fiberglass or wood rods between the upper and lower decks it is easy to put pressure just about anywhere you need it.
With the addition of some treated wood to match your deck you can easily add a bar that looks like it was built in with the original deck.
A gobar clamping deck is a nifty system for clamping.
Or you can make the go bars out of wood.
My next step is gluing the braces to the top and back of the guitar but how to clamp them properly is one of those challenges.
Drill a 1 2 diameter hole in each corner 1 from each edge.
This is a great way to add some extra seating without adding a large bulky table.
Making a go bar deck building a guitar poses many challenges and most of the problems encountered have more than one solution.
The upper lower decks are 3 4 inch baltic ply reinforced with 1 by 2 red oak braces in an x pattern across the center of the decks on the outside.
